Head of Editorial

ScreenRepublic is seeking a Head of Editorial to launch the definitive portal for independent, classic and world cinema. This is an opportunity to define the editorial policy of a fast-moving startup, and to produce, commission, and manage content in all forms of media.

Responsibilities include:

  • Generate ideas for features, reviews, and other content in text, audio, video, and mobile formats.
  • Manage and coordinate staff editorial team, freelance contributors, and bloggers.
  • Develop workflows, production methods, and the use of appropriate technology.
  • Manage editorial budget and produce content efficiently.
  • Conduct interviews and write, produce, and present original feature and review articles.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with PRs, distributors, and the broader filmmaking community.
  • Develop strategy for engaging with, and building our audience and registered user base.
  • Edit and proof portal content.
  • Travel and attend festivals.

You need:

  • An in-depth knowledge of, and passion for, the world of independent cinema.
  • Impeccable editorial style and judgement.
  • Excellent contacts and sources within the film industry.
  • Substantial supervisory experience of rich media production in a web or broadcast environment.
  • Outstanding writing and scripting skills, possibly developed in a print media environment.
